Benefits of Seasons of Life Supervison
Qualified Supervision
Our supervisor is accredited with the Australian Counselling Assocation as a Level 4 member (2364) and is also a member of the College of Supervisors. Penny has completed the Rise Up Supervision Program in 2015 and repeated this in 2020 so she could train counsellors in the program. Penny is currently undertaking a Graduate Certificae in Professional Supervision.
Relational & Encouraging
We provide supervision that is warm, appraochable and designed to build your confidence and skills as a counsellor. There are of course times where you may need to be stretched out of your comfort zone to grow or to be challenged in difficult situations. However supervision should never be intimidating or confidence-destroying. Penny is passionate about equipping counsellors to be all they can be.
Ethical Best Practice Support
Supervision provided is aimed at maintaining the highest ethical standards in line with ACA code of ethics and scope of practice. Open and honest comunication is recommended and guidance to support best practice for the clients and counsellor.
Accountability
Professional Supervision with a registered and trained supervisor brings accountability which in turn provides safety for the counsellor, supervisor and most importantly the client. Supervisors who hold themselves accountable recieve the own supervison on supervision and take a humble position on what they don’t know.

Supervising counsellors, recent graduates, and students is one of my greatest joys. I love helping the next generation of counsellors grow and develop. I’m an experienced supervisor, registered with the Australian Counselling Association and a member of the College of Supervisors, with over 1500 hours of supervision since 2018.

Group Supvervision
Counselling can be a lonely profession
But it doesn’t have to be!
The number one benefit I hear from counsellors who attend my groups – is connection with others.
Group supervision is a great way to connect, network and develop professional relationships with other counsellors while learning from the collective group of experience.
I offer group supervison every month for 2 hours per group. It is a cost effective way to maintain your ACA requirements and connect with others. The group has varied levels of experience and a wide variety of topics – but does focus more generally on counsellors in private practice.
Specialised supervsion for school counsellors
I have 8 years extensive experience working in R-12 schools in South Australia in both the public and private sector, working with young people ages 5-18, their families and school staff.
I understand the unique environment that makes a school community and the role that a school counsellor plays.
I enjoy supporting school counsellors in supervision and find my understanding of their experience really supports them.
Supervisors who work in clinical practice often don’t understand the intricate relationships that occur in a school and the need to work in multi-disciplinary teams using a case management approach.

Kind words from counsellors
Starting a private practice for the first time is a huge learning experience. Penny has been an amazing supervisor who has helped me to focus my intention and guided me through each step of the process. Penny is a knowledgable and supportive supervisor, not only helping me with my business but improving my skills as a counsellor as well.
Penny has been my supervisor for over a year now. I have found the one-on-one and group supervision to be a safe and non-judgemental space. Her supervision has helped me to find peers to connect with, provided information on dealing with real struggles within the occupational field and helped build my confidence through altruism. Penny is a supervisor who is friendly, authentic, and her various experiences within the occupation makes her examples valuable and diverse.
From my first individual supervision session with Penny I felt comfortable sharing my ups and downs of my new private practice. Penny always provides a safe space to share, she is warm, fun, caring and extremely knowledgeable about all things in the counselling space.I have also attended her group sessions which I highly recommend. I’ve attended a few other group sessions but Penny’s group is the best run group session, where everyone feels included and are able to contribute.Having Penny’s support and encouragement I’m able to feel more confident in my skills as a counsellor.
SUPERVISION FAQ’s
ARE YOU A REGISTERED ACA SUPERVISOR?
Answer
Yes I am
I have completed an ACA approved supervision training and I am a member of the ACA College of Supervisors.
DO YOU SUPERVISE PACFA COUNSELLORS?
Answer
No I don’t as PACFA have different requirements for their supervisors and I am not a member of PACFA
HOW MANY SESSIONS OF SUPERVISION DO I NEED?
Answer
It depends your client load, how experienced you are and if employed whether you receive in-house supervision.
ACA requires a minimum of 10 sessions per registration year to maintain membership.
However if you are seeing a high number of clients that is not enough accountability so please speak with Penny or your supervisor.
WHAT IF I NEED AN URGENT SESSION
Answer
If you are in need of an urgent discussion in the event of a emergent situation. Please email me rather than phone me. I will aim to ring you as soon as I can. I don’t charge for 15 min but beyond that it is charged at the normal hourly rate.
WHAT IS A PROVISIONAL MEMBER?
Answer
Check the ACA website
But in short, it means that you have completed a diploma of counselling that is not accredited with ACA (there are only 5 accredited diplomas).
You are required to complete 25 hours of supervision and 1 year of practice before being accepted as level 1 – but please check with ACA as everyone’s circumstances are different.
I provide provisional members a discounted rate for supervision.
*please note as of July 2023 ACA has changed discontinued the Provisional membership level please contact ACA for further information
HOW MANY GROUP SESSIONS CAN I CLAIM?
Answer
Australian Counselling Association allow you to claim 2 hours of group supervision per month.
Please note that out of the 10 minimum supervision sessions required to maintain membership with ACA – 5 of those sessions must be individual supervision.
IS IT OK TO JUST ATTEND GROUP SUPERVISION?
Answer
No it isn’t
The reason is that it is inperative that you receive individual supervision to ensure that you are receiving the correct guidance and support that you need. Group alone does not allow this as participation is often voluntary.

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY SESSION?
Answer
I encourage supervisees to book ahead of time so they secure the times they need at the frequency they need. I can be booked ahead a month – so doing this is vital. If something comes up then you are welcome to cancel. Cancellations 48 hours and under will incur a fee (see cancellation policy).
