Counselling can be a lonely profession
But it doesn’t have to be!
The number one benefit I hear from counsellors who attend my groups – is connection with others.
Group supervision is a great way to connect, network and develop professional relationships with other counsellors while learning from the collective group of experience.
I offer group supervison every month for 2 hours per group. It is a cost effective way to maintain your ACA requirements and connect with others. The group has varied levels of experience and a wide variety of topics – but does focus more generally on counsellors in private practice.
Check out the FAQ’s below for common questions regarding group supervision.
Are you a school counsellor?
Specialised supervsion for school counsellors
I have 8 years extensive experience working in R-12 schools in South Australia in both the public and private sector, working with young people ages 5-18, their families and school staff.
I understands the unique environment that makes a school community and the role that a school counsellor plays.
I enjoy supporting school counsellors in supervision and find my understanding of their experience really supports them.
Supervisors who work in clinical practice often don’t understand the intricate relationships that occur in a school and the need to work in multi-disciplinary teams using a case management approach.

Kind words from counsellors
Starting a private practice for the first time is a huge learning experience. Penny has been an amazing supervisor who has helped me to focus my intention and guided me through each step of the process. Penny is a knowledgable and supportive supervisor, not only helping me with my business but improving my skills as a counsellor as well.
Penny has been my supervisor for over a year now. I have found the one-on-one and group supervision to be a safe and non-judgemental space. Her supervision has helped me to find peers to connect with, provided information on dealing with real struggles within the occupational field and helped build my confidence through altruism. Penny is a supervisor who is friendly, authentic, and her various experiences within the occupation makes her examples valuable and diverse.
From my first individual supervision session with Penny I felt comfortable sharing my ups and downs of my new private practice. Penny always provides a safe space to share, she is warm, fun, caring and extremely knowledgeable about all things in the counselling space.I have also attended her group sessions which I highly recommend. I’ve attended a few other group sessions but Penny’s group is the best run group session, where everyone feels included and are able to contribute.Having Penny’s support and encouragement I’m able to feel more confident in my skills as a counsellor.

Answer
It depends your client load, how experienced you are and if employed whether you receive in-house supervision.

However if you are seeing a high number of clients that is not enough accountability so please speak with Penny or your supervisor.
