A WORD FROM PENNY ADAMS
“I have learned through working with my clients, counsellors and my own lived experience that hope, resolution, and possibility do exist. People have more resources and strengths than they realize. Solutions are available.
My belief is that most of us want to change things in our lives. But, we don’t know how to. And, we lack the tools or support. We frequently try to change too much at once and feel overwhelmed.
I am here to help you find the resources in you to meet your goals. You’ll do it in a safe and supportive space”.
– Penny Adams
When we’re looking for compassion, we need someone who is deeply rooted, is able to bend and, most of all, embraces us for our strengths and struggles.

My Story
My early career in customer service and retail management was born out of necessity rather than passion. However, it helped me develop strong communication skills and the ability to work well with people.
In my early to mid-thirties, I took a break to raise my two beautiful daughters. During this time, I discovered my true passion for counselling and pursued studies in community services and disability.
My counselling journey began in schools, where I spent 10 years supporting students, their families, and staff. This rewarding yet challenging work provided me with diverse experience in mental health support

The year my life changed
When I was 23 my world crumled when I lost both my parents within 3 months of each other. My mum rapidly from aggressive cancer and dad much older than her, died, I believe of a broken heart. With very little family, everything I knew and cherished was gone.
It was the early 1990’s, and mental health and grief were not as well supported as it is now. Without the help I needed I stumbled through life in a spectacularly bad way at times. I didn’t know how to process my loss or deal with the trauma I had experienced.
Eventually, I found a counsellor and spent two years working through losses. I discovered who I was and what I wanted in life. Most importantly, I learned how to process and understand what had happened to me.
Personal therapy inspired me to become a counsellor, helping others find healing and hope during life’s hard times. Over the years, I also developed a passion for supervision, guiding and supporting other counsellors in their professional journeys. My goal is to provide a safe, supportive space for both clients and fellow counsellors.

Seasons of Life is Born
The business started in 2016 but didn’t gain momentum until I began seeing clients and providing supervision for counsellors in 2017, while still working full-time in a school. In 2018, I invested a lot of time developing the business in Kadina on the Copper Coast.
In 2019, my business doubled as I offered face-to-face services in Kadina, Balaklava, and Port Pirie, gradually reducing my school hours. When the panademic arrived in South Australia early 2020, I left the school to focus entirely on Seasons of Life Counselling, transitioning to online counselling. This shift tripled my business due to its convenience, reduced travel, and no restrictions and low wait times.
I continue to see clients exclusively online. Additionally, I provide professional counselling supervision and training. I co-founded Counsellors Community Australia, a free Facebook group with over 6,000 members, alongside my colleague Rosie Barbara. This community offers a supportive space for Australian counsellors to connect, learn, and grow.

Client Feedback
The first time I made an appointment I was a complete mess because my marriage was in shambles and I was at the end of all hope. Penny helped me through some extremely tough; dark days and gave me small strategies and small step by step daily goals to help me manage what was happening. We had a few joint counselling sessions which for me were also helpful but my marriage was too far gone to be saved. Penny has been amazing and helped me more than she knows. I continue to have regular sessions when I feel I need them.
Penny has helped me deal with grief; sadness; anger; animosity; hurt; frustration and much more. She is easy to talk to, very down to earth and her strategies; advice and “homework” were simple to achieve even on the worst days. I am forever grateful to Penny for helping me
