Pricing Questions

We aim to keep our prices as afforable as possible

Counselling at this stage is NOT part of the Medicare Better Access Scheme and counselling cannot be claimed under Medicare.

Australia is in a mental health crisis and desperately needs counsellors added to Medicare. As of 2024 the Government is working with the 2 peak counselling bodies to establish a set of industry standards for counsellors. 

How does your fee compare to a Mental Health Plan

Mental health Plans under the Better Access Scheme are provided by a doctor and the client usually sees a psychologist. 

The current rebate in 2023 from Medicare for psychologists is between $89 and up to $131 for clincial psychologists however the Australian Psychological Societies recommended session fee is $280 which means you may be out of pocket for between $130 – $190 

Our current rate for individual counselling is $95 and couples/relationship is $120 which is less than the gap payment generally charged by a psychologist. 

 

Do you provide a discount or concession rate?

We don’t have a set concession rate. We are private business and do not receive any subsidies, funding or rebates from the Government or any other organisation. 

If you are a current or returning client and are experiencing finanical distress please contact Penny Adams to discuss your needs. 

Any discounts offered are at the sole discretion of Seasons of Life Counselling and are decided on a case by case basis. 

 

Does Seasons of Life Counselling receive funding?

We are private business and do not receive any subsidies, funding or rebates from the Government or any other organisation.

The advantages of this is that you as the client receive consistency of care. You are not limited to a certain amount of sessions. We do not try to push you towards certain outcomes.

 

Do you provide private health fund rebates

Each health fund has its own criteria around counselling and it will depend of what each person is covered for in their policy. At this stage Penny Adams is not providing services under any private health insurance funds. 

 

The Fine Print

Reschedule / Cancellation Policy

Sessions are required to be paid in full prior to the commencement of the appointment unless prior arrangment has been made with Seasons of Life Counselling.

Up to 48 hours prior to session appointments can be rescheduled or cancelled at no charge.

Between 48 hours and 24 hours prior to session a fee of 50% will be charged for cancellations and rescheduling. Cancellations/rescheduling less than 24 hours or NO shows to appointment will be charged 100% of the fee.

Extenuating circumstances can be discussed with us and decisisions are at the owners discretion.

Packages Terms and Conditions
  • Counselling packages are offered in packages of 10 sessions. Each session is 60 minutes in duration. 
  • ALL packages are paid for up front and a 10% only discount is applied
  • All online purchases incur a credit card processing fee that is an additional cost and is NOT refundable
  • Cancellation and reschedule policy applies to packages 
  • Counselling packages of 10 sessions must be used within 7 months of purchase or unused sessions will expire
  • Prices are fixed for the term of the package only. Clients will be notified of price increase by email at least 14 days prior to the increase being implemented.  

 

Refunds

 

  • Please note there are NO refunds for services that have already been provided
  • Cancellations in accordance with our cancellation policy will be refunded (less credit card processing fee via Stripe)  and can take up to 7 working days to process. 
  • Packages of counselling: refunds for these will ONLY be issued for those sessions that have not been used. This is also subject to the reschedule/cancellation policy
  • Refunded portions of unused packages will incur a 10% administration fee – this will be deducted from the refund. 
  • Request for refunds for unused package sessions must be made in writing to Penny Adams of Seasons of Life Counselling at least 7 days prior to the next scheduled session, detailing the reasons for your request. 
  • Credit card processing fees will NOT be refunded
  • Refunds on packages will NOT be considered for change of mind
