SUPERVISION ON SUPERVISION
AUSTRALIA WIDE | ONLINE | ACA AND PACFA SUPERVISORS
A reflective, ethical and professionally grounded space designed specifically for Australian counselling supervisors seeking the required supervision on their supervisory practice.
WHAT IS SUPERVISION ON SUPERVISION?
Supervision on supervision is a specialised form of professional supervision designed specifically for qualified counselling supervisors.
Rather than focusing on client casework, this process centres on your role as a supervisor, offering a reflective space to explore the complexity, responsibility, and relational dynamics involved in supervising other practitioners.
It is both a developmental and ethical support structure that ensures supervisors remain accountable, resourced, and professionally supported in the work they do.
association requirements
Both ACA and PACFA require accredited supervisors to engage in ongoing regular supervision that directly relates to their supervisory practice
Formal supervision hours focused on supervision work
Demonstrated reflective practice and ethical oversight
Ongoing professional development related to supervision
Professional accountability and risk management
Supervisor competence and self-care
Supervisors carry evaluative and gatekeeping responsibilities that impact both supervisees and their clients. Supervisors should not practise in isolation and benefit from reflective oversight of their supervisory decisions and processes. It ensures that those responsible for guiding others remain supported themselves — safeguarding supervisees, their clients, and the profession as a whole.

HELLO I’M PENNY ADAMS
I am a highly experienced counselling supervisor, clinician, and trainer with a deep commitment to supporting the growth, integrity, and sustainability of the counselling profession across Australia. In my 9th year of supervision practice, I have conducted more thousands of hours of supervision sessions working with counsellors across private practice, community settings, schools, and organisational environments, including those stepping into, or already established within, supervisory roles.
In addition to my supervision practice, I spent 4 years training emerging supervisors using the Rise Up Model, equipping practitioners with the frameworks, ethical foundations, and reflective capacities required to supervise safely and effectively.
I hold Level 4 Membership with the Australian Counselling Association (ACA), Clinical Membership with PACFA, Membership with the ACA College of Supervisors and I am a full member of EMDRAA.
My approach to supervising supervisors is collegial, reflective, and ethically grounded, offering a peer-level space where experienced practitioners can explore the complexity of supervision work, refine their supervisory identity, and remain professionally supported in the responsibility of holding others.
APPROACH TO SUPERVISION ON SUPERVISION
What is our approach?
As a qualified counselling supervisor and active member of the professional supervision community, I understand the layered responsibility that comes with holding others in practice.
My approach is:
-
Collegial and peer-based
-
Collaborative based and only hierarchal when necessary
-
Ethically grounded
-
Developmentally supportive
With extensive experience supervising counsellors at all stages, I bring both practical insight and relational depth to this work. This is not about assessment. It’s about support, accountability, and professional growth
Penny utilises the Rise Up Model, as the framework for supervision. Along with other well-known supervision models, this provides a comprehensive approach to professional counselling supervision. We also implement a highly reflective and relational approach to supervision to ensure the continued growth of the counsellor.
